ZETA
About the Car
Zeta is UCI's newest formula style car. It is being designed for the 2013 Formula Electric competition. The car is scheduled for completion later in the 2012-2013 school year.
Our Goals
The driving concept behind the car is to balance fuel efficiency, agility; all while being cost conscious. In each of the previous two FSAE competitions entered, UCI Racecar Engineering finished first in fuel efficiency. The main goal for this year’s competition is to maintain this standing, while increasing drivability and agility of the car by building on knowledge gained from last year’s car. Drivability will be increased by opening up the driver’s compartment and lowering the height of the nose of the chassis to improve comfort and increase visibility. Agility will be increased by lowering the weight of the car through lighter building materials used in the manufacturing of the body; a smaller, lighter wheel and tire package to decrease rotating mass; and lowering the total center of gravity height by relocating the fuel tank and radiator lower in the chassis.
