_Fall quarter has just started. We took out Beta, Gamma, and Epsilon to get new members familiar with driving open wheeled race cars built by students. _Gamma naked, Epsilon in the middle, and Beta in the back. _Beta ready to go. _New students first get to drive Beta to get a feel of an open wheeled race car. It's a single-wheel-powered beast. _Gamma ready to go. _Next up, students get to drive a car with more power and torque - Gamma car. Torque vectoring kept the car stable in turns, but once the car starts to drift, countersteering upsets the balance of power to the wheels. Gamma team will have to figure out how to fix that problem. _Epsilon ready to go out for a spin _
We found that Epsilon had a tendency to understeer and had problems idling. After the day was over, students went back to the shops to figure out how to tune car to corner better and run smoother. |
